Fortuny

The Fortuny floor lamp was conceived for the first time in 1907 by Mariano Fortuny and is still considered a contemporary and timeless icon. The knowledge and talent of the eclectic artist gave shape to the project of the Fortuny lamp with which he revolutionized the stage lighting by experimenting with a new system of indirect light for the stage. To suggest the base was the tripod of the camera, with the central adjustable leg, while for the lampshade Fortuny reversed the lampshades typical of the era making them tiltable and thus creating an instrument to direct the light. In the history of design, only few projects are able to lend themselves to ever new interpretations, maintaining an unmistakable personality.
